1,011 children dressed for the 2015 school year!
St Monica’s Sunday School Classes Donation to Ladies of Charity. Sunday School classes at St Monica’s donated 170 pair of jeans to our clothing store. Thank you for this overwhelming support to our mission to clothe children in needs. Jeans are such an important item for all school age students. Thank you St Monica’s. Ladies of Charity (LOC) is part of the Vincentian Family of ministries. It is an international association of women, inspired by the life of St. Vincent de Paul, whose goal is to provide service to those living in poverty. The Milwaukee chapter started over 50 years ago. All of our chapter members (approximately 120 women), including officers, are non-paid volunteers.
The special mission of the Milwaukee chapter is a Children’s Clothing Center located on the campus of St. Francis of Assisi in Milwaukee’s inner city. Families in need, referred by their school’s social worker or principal, are given vouchers that they bring to the Center. We then make every effort to supply a wardrobe of new and gently used clothing; items like pants, tops, sweaters, winter jackets, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, socks and underwear.
We depend on the generosity of our community to pay for our rent, utilities and other expenses, and to supply the clothing for the families.
Our formal name is: Association of the Ladies of Charity of Milwaukee Wisconsin. Under that name we have exempt status from Federal income tax under section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are deductible under the Code. Our EIN number is 90-0620267.
